The Set That Got Me Back Into Lego

4 out of 5 stars

After almost 20 years without buying Lego, this set got me back into the hobby. Why? I wanted a compact, iconic, and detailed display piece, and this set delivers. It takes less than a square foot of space but uses over 900 pieces to good effect for excellent shaping and detail along with a dynamic angled stand. As a desktop or small shelf display piece, this is the place to start. The build experience was fun, with radial sections of the ship clipping together in a surprisingly strong way, which was satisfying. Overall, this is an excellent and compact set with minimal playability.

PROS: 1.perfect size for display. Not a big deal for me that minifigs can't fit in it. It's not meant to be a playset. 2. The base is excellent because it attaches the ship at a jaunty flying angle. 3. Interesting SNOT techniques that build up as sub assemblies that snap in place using technic pieces. CONS: 1. Absolutely monotonously slow paced assembly. Actually this is the first set that I've ever had to complain this loudly about. Most "steps" consist of 1 to 2 pieces - no exaggeration. Most other sets' steps use 5 to 7 pieces minimum to keep you moving along. This set literally grinds your progress to such a ridiculously slow pace that makes it hard to stay engaged. Also, for some inexplainable reason, some steps actually show the addition of pieces behind and underneath other existing pieces. You literally don't have a clear view of exactly where the pieces fit. 2. The usual "Easter eggs" and detailed interior pieces that get covered up with successive steps. Busy work for no apparent reason other than to hike the piece count. 3. Sub assembly gaps are extremely noticeable. 4. Once again, no lighting kit included. Lego, please look around and see what other competitors are offering regarding lighting included with their sets. So, this set is frustrating because half or even more of the enjoyment of building a Lego set is the actual process of doing the building, not just having the finished creation. In that aspect, this set fails. The only redeeming aspect of this set will be the finished creation lit up with the requisite aftermarket light kit. Will it be cool? Absolutely! Will it have been a fun process? Absolutely not.

I would thoroughly recommend this set to any Star Wars fans and would be pilots of the Millenium Falcon. The build was a lot of fun - I particularly enjoyed the studs in the crew compartments as you build representing scenes from the films. Not though you can open them but that it adds to reflection on their place in the heart of the build. It came together really nice, and sits well on my shelf next to another episode IV stalwart the Tantive IV. Now to start saving up those pennies for the giant version (if I can actually find a place for it...)

This build was very fun and very clever. I also enjoyed the entertaining lines or insights into the history of events on the Falcon as you went along in the instruction manual! I give this build an A-... A+ if there would have been a cargo ramp and removable landing gear. Keep up the GREAT work at LEGO!!!!!

Disappointed

I’m a massive Star Wars Lego, and Lego fan. Was really looking forward to this set, and commenced the build with enthusiasm. I enjoyed the initial structural build and the little “Easter eggs”. I liked the initial parts of the build to the point that I planned to buy this kit for a friend as a gift. As the build progressed I became disappointed in the quality of the build and the numerous “air gaps” in the finished product. I’m currently searching online for fan modifications/enhancements to rectify the poor design choices. The connection of the outer pieces to the central structure are flimsy at best. For shame, Jens Frederiksen.

Love how this set fits together. We used the Lego builder app to help us build the model and it really helped at times to be able to move the image around to see exactly where the pieces went.

Impressive Mid-Scale Build

This smaller midi-scale falcon does captures the look, feel, and proportions with impressive accuracy and kudos to Lego designers for designing a financially accessible set, albeit the price point still could be a tad lower. However, there are few things that irked me when paying close attention to detail. As a display set, the problems I see are the gaps between panels that were lodged like pizza slices. It appears that the use of wedge plates in the subsections of the design phase that creates when viewed at the finished product. There is also a gap at the back end of the cockpit that is unforgiving. There is quite a bit of exposed studs and better detailing and use of other elements would have made this a nicer exhibition model.

Good set, not so good instructions

I believe the set is phenomenal, plenty of texture on the fuselage, with detailed features such as the quad gun. The only thing I would say is not user friendly is the manual. It would be fair to add a few more pages to better explain some of the steps, and better color depiction of the pieces. All in all, a solid 4.5/5

I love the Falcon and this buy was perfect for the size of my shelving. I enjoyed the build very much and there were a few challenging moments but that was more due to my excitement than anything else. I love the stand because it gives the feeling of the Falcon being mid-flight. Very happy to own this one.

I think this is the best millennium falcon they made! It’s not too big and not too small and it has a stand to make it a decorative piece! I heard stories of missing pieces so for my first lego set in a long time I was a bit worried but once I knew I had my pieces it was super fun to build. My only complaint is that the stand is a bit flimsy. But other than that it’s the best value for money! I recommend this millennium falcon out of any since the other ones are too costly and big (unless you have the money and room then go for it)

Lego Love

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My kids love legos and both were so excited to get to try this set with influenster. It is definitely a more advanced Lego builder set. Both my kids easily build the larger Lego sets (500-800 pieces) and this one has taken them a bit longer to finish. It is a more complex build. As always the quality of the lego piece is great. Easy to snap together, they stay together and if need be unsnap them easily. This would be great as a gift for any Star Wars fan and perfect to sit on a shelf once finished.

A small and smart version of Millenium falcon

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I think this is the smallest version of Lego Millenium Falcon, it is quite compact but yet features iconic parts of the ship, such as the side cockpit, antennas, cannons or the blue propulsion light. There are a few pieces that are hard to attach together, but overall not a hard build. It fits nicely among our Lego Star Wars collection!

Got this set as a gift from my daughter, both die hard SW fans and I can honestly say I was super chuffed. It’s a great build and considering the size, packs in a lot of detail. Love that it comes with a display stand, really finishes it of. Can’t wait to get more of the 25th anniversary kits. Thanks Lego another great kit, highly recommended and great value for money.
