Q: does the building open up when your done building it so you can see all the things inside?

submitted by ohiostuckin - 6 months ago
  • A: Yes, the build separates into the roof and two floors, so you can easily remove them to see everything inside. – Alina, LEGO® Customer Service

Missing piece

I’m very disappointed that Lego didn’t include all the pieces. A single missing piece early in the build means I can’t continue building this set until the replacement arrives. Lego says this could be over a month from now. For the prices they charge, the least they could do is make sure the sets are complete

This was an awesome set to build. It built a lot fast than I thought it would take. There are new bricks which were exciting to use, and I like how the established bricks are being used in new and exciting ways. I love the modular builds and can't wait for the next one, although I am running out of room for them....

Had a great time building this, and my 7 and 5 year old kids (advanced builders) were also able to get in on the action. Fun for the whole family.

Looks great but impractical

By Lego standards the NHM doesn't seem to have been designed very well at all. I don't like it doesn't open up, you have to lift off each level to see inside. The back wall is fully enclosed which I find very strange as Lego usually leave an open space so you can see inside. Ultimately,an unusual miss from the Lego design team

This set was super fun build. Easier to build then let sets in the same series. Very sturdy and strong. Able to move with ease. Highly recommend for intermediate builders and above

This has been one of my favourite modulars to build. All the little details inside the building, each of the exhibitions, were just a joy to put together and the end result looks really great along side my other buildings. Highly recommended

Love this build and all the modular sets my son has built. So disappointing that our wheel piece for the solar system model was left out and replaced with a simple white 2x6 plate. Submitted a missing piece order but need to wait about a month. My son chose to wait for the missing piece instead of proceeding with the build. His choice and I respect that. This was supposed to be a holiday break father-son activity. First time this has happened for us with Lego sets.

A bit underwhelming for its size

I have been an avid modular collector for years and have been very unimpressed by this quite anticipated build. The geometry of the building itself is pretty plain and more details could have been added to the roomy interiors. Would like to start seeing paving tiles on upper floors too in the upcoming modulars, given the overall LEGO price increase and rising building standards. I couldn't help but comparing this set to the Assembly Square, which had way more architectural variety and attention to details. My favourite part of the Museum was definitely the roof, which offers quite unique building technics, the curator's room and the big classic columns and ornated pediment, which kind of saved the day giving the straight facade a great final look. I didn't mind the colour palette, however the size of the set could have been bigger and closer to the Town Hall scale given what museums usually look like.

I've admired this set for a while now and decided I deserved a treat - and this really was one. Made with my teenager and we loved all the quirky little details and Easter Eggs. Everything about it was fun to make and we're now planning what will be joining it to create the perfect streetscape.

Lego fans building together

My son bought the set for himself with money he has been saving. Usually limit the amount he spends his money but he has loved building the set. We both build it together as a way to spend time and make memories together. Already looking to add to his collection he is converting one of the rooms in the basement for all his Lego builds he has gathered over thw years. Would recommend this to friends and family. Love the little details some of which are hidden!
